Off The Market

I was sitting here today, working on my latest project for work, when the phone rang. It’s always annoying when the phone rings and I am in the middle of code. I didn’t recognize the number, but I answered anyway.

It turns out, it was the realtor we used when we bought our first house, asking if I was interested in buying ro selling any real estate.

You know things are slow, when your agent from 10 years ago calls looking for business.

Check Please

It seems I will be taking another business trip in the next couple weeks. I hate being away from my family when work calls, but heck, they only call me up twice a year or so.

I spent some time looking at new luggage and ended up buying a new bag that I can carry with me on the plane. I so hate checking any bags.

Working Hard For The Weekend

I am busting my hump extra hard this week, because this coming weekend we are heading for the hills of North Carolina, to partake in some holiday fun, some shopping, and most of all, some relaxation.

I love going to North Carolina. I love the mountains. I haven’t been to the coast yet, but I hear that the Outer Banks are nice, except during hurricane season, but I wouldn’t want to be in the mountains during a big storm either.

Now, back to work, so I can get done before Friday.

You Should See This

I used to make fun of people who bought things “seen on tv”, that is, until I bought this really kewl knife for the kitchen. Man. I love that thing.

I remember as a kid, watching all the Ginzu knife commercials and all of the other ads only available from those commercials, and wishing I could order them all.

It’s hard enough with all of the as seen on tv ads, that’s why I don’t watch any of the home shopping channels. Yikes.

Another Trip North In My Future

I will be traveling to the office again soon, and although I will be very close to New York, I probably won’t make it again.

Everytime I travel to the office I hope to make it up to New York City to visit friends, and each time I end up coming home without making it up there.

For the longest time, my wife has wanted to make a weekend trip to New York, so I think it’s time to start planning one. I will have to save up some money, and maybe even get some Wicked tickets or something, then we could spend the day shopping and eating, and the evening watching some good theatre and eating.

Yes, I love eating.

RTFM

So I am sitting here troubleshooting some network issues with a customer in New Jersey.

After spending two hours walking him through the user manual to make sure all of the settings are correct (and making him write down the values for each, so this does not happen in the future), I find out he doesn’t even have the software running.

Yes, he failed to start the application, therefore it was not working correctly. I need to revise the first step in the manual to state, “START THE FRICKIN’ SOFTWARE BEFORE PROCEEDING”.

And people wonder why drug treatment centers exist.

All The Right Schtuff

When I got my T-Mobile Wing I am so happy that I bought a micro sd to go with it. It sure makes a world of difference that’s for sure.

I have a ton of pictures, music, and other schtuff right where I need it, wherever I go. I can’t imagine using a device like the Wing without an additional card in it. What fun would that be?

Stepping Into This Millenium

I have decided it’s time to step into the new millenium by looking at HDTV’s. Yeah, I know, I am behind the times, but at least I am trying to catch up.

I found a great site for such a purchase too, called Second Act. They specialize in finding factory closeouts, refurbished products, overstocks and much more.

Second Act even has a deal of the day, where you never know what they will offer. I added their rss feed for their deal of the day to my reading list. Now I can just wait for the right deal to come to me.

If you’re looking for a great deal on an HDTV, check out Second Act.

I Want More…

I am waiting for the day that technology is developed that is hack-proof. I know, it’s a longshot, but I can hope can’t I?

Over the course of the past year, my bank account has been “compromised” twice when I paid my electric bill online. Two different processors, two different cards, same hacker? Who knows, I doubt it.

My bank has handled things real well, but I am considering opening one or two new checking accounts, one to pay house related bills, and the other to pay all the others. WaMu checking offers a great number of options, all of which sound really good at the moment, especially the free identity theft services.

Papa John’s Takes TXT Orders

I just received an email from Papa John’s letting me know about this really kewl new way to order pizza.

Michelle Kratschmer’s family was craving the usual — a large pepperoni pizza and a small pie with black olives and cheese — but how she entered the phone order was entirely new.

The Godfrey, Illinois, woman ordered dinner by sending a text message to her local Papa John’s restaurant. A half-hour later, the pizzas were delivered to her home.

How cool is that? I think I will try it tonight. Might as well, I was wanting to order pizza anyway.

UPDATE: Well, we ordered the pizza and I hardly had time to look at my Hamilton watch before the delivery guy showed up with our pizza. Awesome man, awesome.
