Test Pattern #69: The American Energy Act
The American Energy Act will increase our supply of American made energy.
It will improve conservation and efficiency as well as promote new and expanding energy technologies.
All of this will help lower the price at the pump and reduce our costly dependence on foreign oil.
But Nancy Pelosi wants you to think it’s all about offshore drilling.
By sending a message to the world that we will be tapping into our own oil supplies, the American Energy Act will have an immediate affect on the current price of gasoline at the pump.
The provisions included in the American Energy Act will make the needed investments in alternative energy sources to help us focus on the future.
But Nancy Pelosi wants you to focus on her plan. A plan no one has even seen.
In recent interviews, Mrs. Pelosi has called on the President to release oil from our nation’s strategic petroleum reserve.
Such a move would leave our country in a vulnerable position if our current supply from overseas was somehow disrupted.
There is a reason it’s called ’strategic’, and that’s why the President is keeping her fingers out of the reserve.
But Nancy Pelosi wants you to believe she’s saving the planet.
One hundred and nine House Republicans have returned to debate the issue, but there is constant silence from the other side of the aisle. We cannot begin to solve our energy issues if Speaker Pelosi keeps refusing to bring her fellow Democrats back to work.
Mrs. Pelosi’s financial disclosure from 2007 reveals an investment in the Clean Energy Fuels Corporation. Could this sizeable investment be the catalyst for her refusal to come back to Washington? Was it ethical for the Speaker of the House to make such an investment knowing that it is her job to oversee the legislative process, including energy reform?
The American Energy Act will:
1. open our deep water ocean resources.
2. open the Arctic coastal plain,
3. allow development of our nation’s shale oil resources
4. increase the supply of gas at the pump
5. improve energy conservation and efficiency
6. provide tax incentives for the purchase of fuel efficient vehicles
7. provide tax incentives for improving energy efficiency
8. promote renewable and alternative energy technologies
9. spur the development of alternative fuels
10. establish a renewable energy trust fund
11. permanently extend the tax credit for alternative energy production
12. eliminate barriers and expand nuclear power production
The American Energy Act is an “all of the above” solution to our nation’s energy problem. If we think hard and focus on the issue at hand, I believe we can solve this problem. But we can only do it if we all work together.
Come back to Washington, Mrs. Pelosi. We’re running out of time.
