iPhone Comes To Best Buy

This is too funny. Before the iPhone 3G was released, I sold my T-Mobile Wing to save up enough money to get one. The power company came and took a bite out of my wallet, and here I sit, with no cell phone, let alone an iPhone. Just the other day, I was commenting to the wife that I wish they sold the iPhone at Best Buy, because I have credit with them, and I could get the phone and make payments.

Sure enough, wishes sometimes come true.

Best Buy Co. will start selling the iPhone on Sept. 7, becoming first U.S. chain to do so outside of Apple Inc.’s and AT&T Inc.’s own stores.

Wednesday’s announcement by Best Buy expands the availability of Apple’s vaunted phone to 970 full-size stores and 16 smaller Best Buy Mobile stores. It’s also a coup for the Minneapolis-based chain, which has been upgrading its cell-phone departments.

Amazing. Now, I just have to decide if I want to give Best Buy my business or not. Ha!

Alpacas Could Drive Better

Drivers talking on cell phones are probably making your commute even longer, concludes a new study.

Motorists yakking away, even with handsfree devices, just don’t keep up with the flow of traffic, said study author David Strayer, a psychology professor at the University of Utah.

They also crawl about 2 mph slower on commuter-clogged roads than people not on the phone, he said.

They needed a study for this? Don’t we all know that people drive slower when talking on the phone? Don’t we know those people are poster children for highway safety? Heck, they could have done a study on drug rehabilitation and told us that people who enter rehab usually end up back in rehab again. Come on! Let’s study something important, like why alpacas spit or something like that.

Papa John’s Takes TXT Orders

I just received an email from Papa John’s letting me know about this really kewl new way to order pizza.

Michelle Kratschmer’s family was craving the usual — a large pepperoni pizza and a small pie with black olives and cheese — but how she entered the phone order was entirely new.

The Godfrey, Illinois, woman ordered dinner by sending a text message to her local Papa John’s restaurant. A half-hour later, the pizzas were delivered to her home.

How cool is that? I think I will try it tonight. Might as well, I was wanting to order pizza anyway.

UPDATE: Well, we ordered the pizza and I hardly had time to look at my Hamilton watch before the delivery guy showed up with our pizza. Awesome man, awesome.
